High-alumina brick description
The high-alumina brick is an aluminum-silicon refractory product made of bauxite clinker with a certain amount of combined clay and having an Al₂O₃ content of more than 48%. The production process of high-aluminum bricks is basically the same as that of high-quality multi-cropped clay bricks. The difference is that there is a classification picking process and a post-screening iron removal process before the clinker is broken. On the basis of clay bricks, high alumina bricks change the Al₂O₃/SiO₂ ratio and increase the Al₂O₃ content, so the refractoriness and high temperature mechanical strength are better than clay bricks. The chemical properties of high-aluminum bricks tend to be neutral, so acid-resistant and alkaline slags are more aggressive than clay bricks and silica bricks.
High-alumina brick applications
Therefore, the parts of various thermal equipment that originally used silica brick or clay bricks can be replaced by high alumina bricks. Replacing clay bricks and silica bricks with high-aluminum bricks can increase the service life of thermal equipment. At present, it is mainly used for masonry blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, electric furnace tops, steel drums, cement kiln, glass kiln and chemical industry kiln. In addition, it is also used as a checker brick for the open hearth regenerator, a plug for the pouring system, and a nozzle brick. But high alumina bricks are more expensive than clay bricks. Therefore, it is not necessary to use high-aluminum bricks where clay bricks can meet the production requirements.
